Fitness

You’ll love the variety of fitness lasses we offer! We are very pleased to offer classes every day! Our classes are at different times each day. We are currently offering the below classes:

Aging Gracefully Yoga

Modern yoga probably suggests photos of thin, twenty-something year old women doing impossible looking body postures.  While that is certainly a part of yoga, the other 90% of yoga practitioners look and move quite differently.  In fact, many people come to yoga later in life because their doctors told them that it would be good for them. In this class, you will learn that yoga can be adapted for everybody.  You will learn postures to strengthen and stretch muscles, protect joints, and promote balance.  Yoga props such as blocks, chairs and blankets will be used to make the postures accessible to everyone.  We will also cover pranayama (breathing techniques) to promote relaxation. Participants for this class must be able to stand and walk on their own with relative ease.

Journey Into Yoga

If you can imagine yoga for the well-being of the whole person, a vehicle for learning to truly take care of yourself and ease the pains of life, then you can imagine a journey from beginning yoga to advanced yogi. These classes are designed for those new to Yoga and those with yoga experience in general and accommodate all levels of fitness. They introduce the foundations of Yoga, such as proper alignment and sequencing, and develop students’ mobility, strength, flexibility, and stability. These dynamic classes focus largely on standing poses, seated poses, forward bends and other fundamental postures and pranayama (breathwork.) In this class, we take the basics of yoga and move forward to help each student explore their yoga practice in their own timeline.

Beginning Yoga

Are you curious about yoga? Maybe you’re a little bit nervous about joining a class.  Well, this yoga class is perfect for the beginning yoga student.  The participants need only show up with a curious attitude.  This class will introduce the fundamentals of a yoga practice, including breath, proper alignment, and mindfulness practices.  The pace of the class offers time for students to develop self-awareness and to refine their practice.

Beginners Vinyasa to Yin

In this class, students will be introduced to the basics of both vinyasa and Yin yoga.  Each yoga pose and flow will be adjusted to make it accessible to all levels.  Props will be used to enable and enhance the student’s practice. Vinyasa to Yin is a marriage of the more active Vinyasa Yoga with the receptive Yin Yoga.

Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is a practice that is beneficial to all. In these classes you will use the support of the chair to arrive in yoga poses, move, breathe & ultimately feel good! Benefits of chair yoga include increased mobility, increased strength, stretch the body, reduce stress, reduce pain & clear the mind.

Functional Fitness

Functional fitness exercises train your muscles to work together and prepare them for daily tasks by simulating common movements you might do at home, work or in sports. While using various muscles in the upper and lower body at the same time, functional fitness exercising also emphasizes core stability and balance.
