Inner Health Food: Build the Tabernacle With the Colors of the Sanctuary

Last week I had a thought concerning the Temple of The Lord and our bodily temple or sanctuary.  I thought about how beautiful and magnificent the Tabernacle was constructed and how the colors represented significance in The House of The Lord.  But my week has been so busy that I didn’t take the time to study it out for this post, so here I am up early this morning doing my study and boy is it awesome.

We may or may not be aware that the Tabernacle was organized for God’s glory and everything in the tabernacle had purpose. But how often do we realize this concept concerning our bodies? This includes me as well, just because I am a personal trainer and future dietitian doesn’t mean I follow the guidelines to the “T”.  We all fall short from time to time, but that doesn’t mean we stay fallen we must get back up and have a go at it again and again and again.  So when reading this word of encouragement I pray that you continue to reevaluate the purpose of why you are taking this journey, not because you just want to lose weight, or get into those skinny jeans; but because you want to bring Glory to the Father, the one who created heaven and earth and YOU!!!

Colors in the Tabernacle

Scarlet was used for the curtains at the entrance to the outer court.  As we know scarlet is the color RED! It signified the sacrifice of Jesus, how he shed his blood that we might live.  Isn’t that an awesome concept? Can you think of any foods with the color red? I know I can.

Purple was used for the curtains at the entrance to the outer court as well; the combination of scarlet and purple also separated the outer court from the Holy of Holies and also lined the roof of the tabernacle itself.  They were used for the inner court too. Purple was a color worn by royalty!!! We are the royal priesthood and a chosen generation.

Blue something about these curtains and the entrance to the outer court…..what is our outer court? I know you can answer that question.  Stay with me we are almost there.  We now have three layers of curtains leading from the outer court to the Holy of Holies. Blue represented a reminder of the commandments, read 1 Cor 6:19-20.

Gold This is a highly precious metal and was used the most in the tabernacle.  The walls, Mercy seat and statues, that filled the splendorous dwelling.  Gold represents heavenly riches, faith and love of our redeemer.

Colorful foods that line up with the Word

Now that we have some understanding of the colors of the Tabernacle let’s relate that to how we should be eating.  Earlier I mentioned the outer court and do we know where our outer court is represented in our body? The answer is our Body! That’s right our outer court is our physical body and the inner court the Holy of Holies is our Spirit Man.  We have a responsibility to God and ourselves to nourish this Temple by what we put inside.

We should eat a rainbow of colors quite often, because different color foods play a different and significant role in our bodies.  Let’s take a look at different foods that correlate with colors that filled the tabernacle.

Scarlet Red Food packed with Phytochemicals like lycopene and anthocyanins, red foods are good for circulatory health, improve our memory, support urinary tract health and many other benefits.  Examples of foods with great benefits are as follows:

  • Cherries
  • Cranberries
  • Red Bell peppers
  • Tomato and beets

Purple and Blue these foods get their bright colors from anthocyanins, they help with anti-aging properties. Now isn’t that special? We all want to look younger than we are don’t we? Blue and purple foods have antioxidants and have some benefits to lower risks of some cancers.

  • Blueberries
  • Blackberries
  • Plums
  • Eggplants and Purple asparagus are just a few ideas to incorporate into your daily diet.

Gold These would be our yellow foods….yum, they assist us with digestion and optimal brain function. They are high in alpha and beta-carotenes which are linked to increased immunity.  That could mean less summer and winter colds.

  • Pineapple
  • Yellow peppers
  • Star fruit
  • Lemons
  • Yellow tomatoes and watermelon are delicious too.

In closing let’s taste the Rainbow and line our Tabernacle with the ordinances of nature and the Word of God. He has perfect organization skills that help us achieve his goal and not necessarily ours.  We have been blessed to receive from a Father who knows no boundaries when it comes to excellence for his people and masterpiece.
